On the weather menu yesterday morning? 80 degrees with a side of thunder and rain. Completely bizarre for LA. Buuut I’ve always been a fall/winter kinda girl, and the gray skies are giving me just the excuse I need to curl up on the couch with a warm cup of tea and some Netflix. Better than that, I feel more than justified rocking that vampy lip that I love oh-so-dearly. My skin tone is beyond pale, and I love the contrast between a light complexion and statement lips. The berry lip is a staple in the cooler seasons, but anyone who says to save it exclusively for fall and winter is wayyyy wrong. I’m obsessed with a plum lip year-round. My favorite way to transition a sexy dark lip into summer? Pair it with neutral shadows and emphasize the lashes.

On the eyes: Sweep a color similar to your skin tone through the crease to simplify the blending process. I used my go-to color that’s best for my own skin tone: Beaches and Cream by Makeup Geek. Build up your crease with a slightly darker shadow and blend, blend, blend! I used MUG Creme Brûlée, which is only slightly darker than Beaches and Cream but provides just enough definition to the crease. Just a small amount of MUG Frappe in the outer V to darken things up, some blending to soften it all together, and voila! I also swept Creme Brûlée and Frappe on the lower lash line to provide some more definition beneath my lower lid – otherwise things look a little uneven. For mascara, I went with an oldie but a goodie – Benefit They’re Real! Lengthening Mascara. I’m very generous with my mascara at all times. Don’t be afraid to build up multiple coats!

On the cheeks: A sweep of MUG Spellbound to the apples of my cheeks and a very light dusting of Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer in the hollows of my face provided just enough definition without being too noticeable, so the lashes and lips really stand out.

Those lips, though: I went with a glam drugstore duo – Milani Easyliner Pencil in Sugar Plum and Makeup Academy #233 Plum lipstick. Fill your lips in completely with the liner, then top it off with the plum lipstick!

This look is absolutely perfect for a summer day or night out when you want to make a statement. Who else rocks a berry lip all year long?!
